Story

When it came to the original idea for Southern Slice, we put our desire to ‘elevate the expected’ at the center of our plan. We knew the 904 was ready to roll a little differently.

Today, when Southern Slice rolls up, partygoers immediately understand what makes us so different: authenticity, ingredients, and experience.

AUTHENTICITY: At the center of the Southern Slice experience, is our 1944 Dodge WF32, Virgnia (and yes, we found her on a plantation in Virginia.) We worked for six months to outfit her with four refrigerators, two sinks, six beer taps and an imported Italian brick oven from Naples. We also added reclaimed wood from a 100 year old church in New York. Why New York? We thought it seemed fitting to have wood from the pizza capital of the United States on our truck.

INGREDIENTS: We’re passionate about keeping our Italian brick oven pizza authentic to the Napolean thin crust while adding the unexpected essence of the South. When you look at our menu, you see lots of influences from New Orleans to Bar-b-que; that’s not something people usually expect. We source the best of the best when it comes to our ingredients. Our double zero flour is imported from Italy and we tap local farmers markets and vendors to gather our meats, vegetables and spices.

EXPERIENCE: Our staff is genuinely excited about helping our community elevate their parties and roll a little differently. We love engaging with guests and being the perfect compliment to events that want to stand out with a unique flavor and a visually stunning (and highly instagrammable) experience.

We knew the 904 was ready to roll a little differently.

“As a self taught chef, I loved the idea of gourmet Italian brick oven pizza, but neither of us wanted to create another food truck. We wanted to elevate the whole experience by creating an open kitchen catering concept gorgeous enough to headline an event.”

“I first experienced the vintage pizza truck concept at a wedding in South Carolina. I was struck by how much everyone loved it and immediately wanted to bring that unforgettable, outdoor experience back home.”
